I’ve not actually tried a lot of Marks & Spencer’s ‘Made Without Wheat’ products, and the only reason is, I just thought their products would taste just as ‘gluten-free’ as the rest of the brands. So, when I was out shopping at the weekend with my Mum, there were limited places to go, the various deli’s offering gluten-free sandwiches looked decidedly dodgy, so we ended up at M&S. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the amount of pre-packaged food I could have! A BLT or a Ploughman’s sandwich, a bread roll, a few cake bars and the scones. All pre-packaged and have a confidence-boosting little paragraph on them stating they have been made in a controlled environment.
The Ploughman’s isn’t worth discussing, although the filling was nice the bread tasted a little odd, BUT THE SCONES. The scones taste like NORMAL scones. I know, you’re shocked – I was too. I liked them so much we bought a few packets to have throughout the week – and I’ve already had another, and it’s on Tuesday.
For someone who has never liked bakery products, this is a massive find for me. I didn’t have to warm them up so they taste adequate like a lot of bread loaves; I ate them cold with butter. If you’re yet to try them, I would definitely go and find them in your local M&S!
Great review, my daughter will be delighted as she misses an odd scone!
Aw I’m glad! Hope she enjoys them 🙂
I visited England recently from Australia and the highlight of my trip was ,the gluten free scones from M & S. I have never had such wonderful gluten free baked goods. I’m still dreaming about them. Now I’m back home and wish I could get them in Australia.
They’re so nice aren’t they! You’ll have to make it your mission to find one just as good in Australia! Good luck:)
